Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium for ternary mixtures of acetone plus methanol plus ionic liquids at 101.3 kPa

In order to avoid the pollution and the corrosion of inorganic anions, such as BF4-, SO42- and Cl-, three ionic liquids (ILs) with different organic anions (1-methylimidazolium acetate [MIM]Ac, 1-methylimidazolium 2-hydroxypropionate [MIM]HPr and 1-methyl imidazolium propionate [MIM]Pr) were studied as entrainers for separating acetone + methanol azeotropic mixture. Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for the ternary system containing ILs were measured at 1013 kPa by using an all glass dynamic recirculating still. The experimental data are well correlated by using the nonrandom two liquid (NRTL) model. The separation ability of the three ILs follows the order: [MIM]Ac > [MIM] HPr > [MIM]Pr.
