Peroxide bleaching of rice straw and bagasse Egyptian pulps

摘要：
Egyptian soda rice straw and kraft bagasse pulps have been treated with alkaline hydrogen peroxide. The delignification and brightness increased and the yield as well as the degree of polymerization decreased by increasing the concentration of hydrogen peroxide. The rate of delignification and the yield losses are higher in the soda pulp than the kraft pulp. The COD and BOD loading appears to be related to the decrease in kappa number. The soda pulp showed a higher loading than kraft pulp.
