Experimental study and numerical modeling of the electron beam formed in the electron-optical system of a gyrotron

摘要
The paper considers physical processes accompanying formation of the helical electron beam in gyrotron devices. Most attention is given to excitation and development of spurious low-frequency (with frequency f similar to 100 MHz) oscillations of the space charge, the relation of these oscillations to characteristics of the emitter, the means used for suppression of these oscillations, as well as secondary effects (including bombardment of the cathode).
