Magneto-hydrodynamic stability of plane-Poiseuille flow using multideck asymptotic technique

摘要
The linear stability of plane-Poiseuille flow at high Reynolds numbers and in the presence of a transverse magnetic field is investigated theoretically using the multideck asymptotic approach due to [1,2]. It is observed that the magnetic field has a stabilizing effect on the flow and that this stability increases with an increase in Hartmann number. However, an increase in the small-disturbance wavenumber may have a destabilizing effect on the flow. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
