摘要
We have obtained the expressions for signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) of C-n(2) and C-n(n) space interferometers in the presence of source shot noise, thermal background shot noise, and detector read noise. We investigate the tradeoff between the C-n(2) and C-n(n) interferometers with varying B/d where B is the length of the longest baseline and d is the aperture diameter. We have calculated the SNRs of a five element interferometer with 1.5 m diameter apertures for natural thermal background. We have found that for B <50 m, the C-n(n) interferometer is more sensitive, while for B > 200 m, the C-n(2) interferometer is preferred.
