Mariano Jose de Larra's No mos mostrador (1831) is nowadays considered by many critics as a moratinian comedy. This classification, which started at the beginning of the XXth century, has been adopted by our history of theater as an objective category without being contested. After comparing No mos mostrador's criticism of the XIXth century with that other criticism created thereafter, it unveils great disparities of perceptions that calls into question its validity. This paper presents a brief panorama of what a moratinian comedy is and which principles should follow.
