摘要：
Prototheca is an algae-like organism that is a rare cause of human infection. More than 100 cases have been reported in the literature since it was originally described in 1964. Prototheca wickerhamii is the most common infectious organism. Three predominant presentations have been described: (1) cutaneous/subcutaneous, (2) olecranon bursitis, and (3) systemic. The organisms have a characteristic appearance on histologic examination. Treatment options include surgical excision, azole antifungals, and amphotericin B.
