摘要
At present, most ships are stabilised for roll using active fins controlled by a PID controller developed using classical control theory and these appear perfectly adequate for most warships. However, what is not known is how the choice of controller for a fin-stabilisation system affects the operational performance of the ship. This paper illustrates the potential improvements in the ability of a warship to perform an anti-submarine warfare mission in the North Atlantic when using different control strategies for fin-roll stabilisation. Also included is an assessment of the potential benefits to operational performance of an integrated fin rudder roll stabilisation system. (C) 2002 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
