摘要
A boundary element program has been modified to model the penetration of gas pressure along growing fractures. The program can model incremental fracture growth in a quasi-static stress field and the addition of gas pressure permits the modelling of the fracturing due to explosives, assuming that the shock wave plays only a small part in the extension of fractures from a blast. Neglecting the rock and gas dynamics is obviously a simplifying assumption, but does provide interesting insights into the effect of gas pressure on fracture extent. Alternative boundary element fracture representations are also presented.
