EMI Reduction of PMSM Drive Through Matrix Converter Controlled With Wide-Bandgap Switches

摘要
An innovative method to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) of an electric machine drive has been simulated and experimented in this paper. In this method, matrix converter with wide-bandgap switches is built. This control system not only makes the controlling smooth but also has the capability to reduce the EMI since the switching frequency is high. In this method, finite element model of the permanent magnet synchronous machine is implemented and coupled with the MATLAB simulink simulation. In addition to the modeling, numerical simulation for two different wide-bandgap switches i.e., Si-IGBT and silicon carbide MOSFET (SiC MOSFET) are carried out and results are compared. The results of the proposed system show that ripple in torque and speed response, as well as harmonics in stator current for SiC MOSFET, are less than Si-IGBT. Moreover, the proposed converter is implemented in hardware to verify the simulation results. The practical implication of this paper is that the proposed matrix converter that can replace the conventional one for sensitive applications in which the EMI disturbs the system's performance.
