摘要
"Without migrant workers, there must be no Chinese industrialization and urbanization." Peasants from native land long for freedom and good life; therefore change into migrant workers. Actually, what are they doing this for? By using Super Work Values Inventory (WVI), this paper surveys 246 migrant workers from manufacture, construction, service, wholesale and retail in Hunan, Henan, Tianjin, Guangdong, etc. Result shows: 1 Migrant workers' work value is a configurative two-dimensional structure between individual developmental value and external protection value. 2. They attach importance to the individual growth and development value that work brings. Achievements and relationship are the most important work values. 3. They do not require high economic return (welfare), work security and environment conditions. 4. They pay less attention to work innovation, challenge, authority, and aesthetics. 5. Female cares work reputation value, while male gives more concern to independence. 6. The characteristics of Chinese migrant workers' work values are in accordance with Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory..
