摘要
In the static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) a controllable AC voltage is generated by a voltage-source converter. There are two control channels for controlling of magnitude and phase of the voltage. If the purpose of SSSC is damping inter-area oscillations in multi-machine power systems, damping stabilizer can be included in the both channels. In steady state condition, the magnitude of the voltage can be controlled by two methods, namely constant voltage mode and constant reactance mode. A damping stabilizer can be included in the both modes of magnitude controller. In this paper, effect of line compensation by SSSC in the constant voltage and constant reactance mode on damping inter-area oscillations in a two-area multi-machine power system is investigated To design a SSSC-based stabilizer a method using quadratic mathematical programming has been proposed In this method gain and phase of stabilizer are simultaneously calculated Four options for using SSSC-based stabilizer to damp mechanical oscillations are presented The obtained results on the two multi-machine power systems show that usage of SSSC stabilizer in the suitable option can significantly reduce the control cost of the stabilizer.
