摘要
A possibility of the mode-matching technique (MMT) to be used for calculating waveguide discontinuities having the smooth boundaries is investigated. The smooth waveguide housing is step-wise approximated to allow using of MMT. In contrast to previous similar works, automated MMT solver Microwave Desktop (MWD) was used, which makes it possible to apply such an approach not for boundary value problems only, but also for calculation of scattering characteristics of waveguide circuits. Modeling results obtained for approximated circular waveguide step and circular iris are compared to the rigorous solutions. It is shown that even for low number of steps the results are in a very good agreement.
