Improvement of the adhesion of the resin to the metal surface by using plasma jet

摘要
Plasma treatment of the stainless steel surface has been carried out using an Ar-N-2 mixture gas plasma jet to improve the adhesion between the metal surface and an epoxy resin. The treated metal surface was observed using XPS, SEM and Surftest (an instrument that measures the roughness of the surface). The adhesive strength between the metal surface metal and the epoxy was measured by a tensile test. The results show that the roughness of the surface of the metal depended on the nitrogen mixture ratio of the plasma gas and the roughness of the surface. The results have been discussed with relation to the constituent species in the plasma jet. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
