The reactions of stabilizers prior to the appearance of degradation in vinyl

摘要
The infrared spectra of simple allylic chlorides dissolved in a variety of primary stabilizers indicate a shift in the C=C stretching frequency to higher energy. This suggests that in the presence of primary stabilizers, allylic unsaturation has less of an activating effect on chlorine. The initial effect of stabilizer addition, therefore, may be simply to increase the activation energy of degradation, and the first function of the vinyl stabilizer, that of a reverse catalyst of the degradative process.
