摘要
Optical fiber networks used for broadcasting services are unidirectional. Therefore, the service providers cannot quickly detect any line failure. This paper proposes an optical fiber network monitoring system that detects abnormalities based on measured optical signal strength by installing an IoT device in an optical closure. The IoT devices have various sensors and monitor not only the optical signal strength but also the temperature and humidity inside the closure and the opening/closing status of the closure. Additionally, a photovoltaic power system is implemented in the optical closure for independent operation of the IoT device. As a result of operation verification of the proposed system, it was confirmed that it can notify abnormalities based on the attenuated optical signal strength and that it can operate for a long time in outdoor environments.
