摘要
A novel and facile approach to prepare exfoliated two-dimensional (2D) kaolinite is reported in this study. The exfoliation was performed through a reaction of kaolinite-dimethylsulfoxide intercalation compound with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The characterizations indicated that the reaction was an interlayer in-situ Fenton reaction where Fe2+ in kaolinite plays a key role and the produced gas is the driven force of kaolinite exfoliation. It is important that the obtained nanosheets were only about 2 nm thick and there were no residual organic compounds on their surface, which was critical for certain practical applications. In addition, the exfoliated kaolinite showed an enhanced Pb (II) adsorption performance in a wide pH range of 2.5-6.5 compared with the original kaolinite.
