A panel discussion on "Long-Term Deformation" was conducted as part of the International Symposium on Mechanically Stabilized Backfill (MSB) held in February 1997 in Denver, Colorado, USA. This paper summarizes a presentation made by the author while serving as a panel member for the discussion. The presentation concerned the use of results from confined creep tensile testing of geosynthetics in the design of MSB structures constructed with geosynthetic soil reinforcement.
