Entrepreneurship Education and Students' Career Choice

Entrepreneurship is regarded as one of the key economic development strategies to advance a country's economic growth and to sustain its competitiveness in facing the increasing trends of globalization. This study aimed to explore the effects of entrepreneurship education on the development of self-confidence and students' career choice as an entrepreneur. Findings of this study noted a positive significant effect of the entrepreneurial curriculum and content, and entrepreneurial internship programs on student's self-confidence. Findings also noted a positive and significant effect of the university's role in promoting entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial internship programs, and self-confidence on students' career choice as an entrepreneur. Findings of this study therefore provide a clear indication to academicians and academic policy makers about the effectiveness of the current entrepreneurial education programs designed and practiced by public universities in Malaysia.
