摘要
The present paper reports a simple calculation of shape and size dependent melting temperature of gold, silver and platinum nanoparticles. For the bulk materials, melting temperatures for the same material remains constant. As we keep on reducing the size of the material, we observe a drastic change in this temperature of materials. The melting temperatures of nanomaterials are suppressed with respect to their bulk counterparts. The most important observation is that this change not only depends on the size of the material, but also on its shape. By taking into consideration different shapes of nanoparticles, theoretical predictions of their melting temperaturesusing various models, are performed and discussed.
