摘要
The traditional and community-based marine resources management system in Fiji is evolving to meet the challenges of contemporary societies. The traditional system of resource management addresses some of the common issues relating to resource management at the community level. Coastal communities are well placed to play a leading role in the proper use of their marine resources. This case study illustrates how the contemporary management arrangements in places like Fiji are a combination of traditional and contemporary practices which address issues and concerns relating to effective marine resources management.
