Dentistry application using a picosecond Nd:YAG laser

摘要
The use of lasers in dentistry is well established, and conventionally the nanosecond pulse regime is the most employed. The picosecond pulsed laser is a regime very little explored within the applications of dentistry. In this paper, we present general aspects of the ablation rate and discuss the applications of picosecond laser pulses from a Nd:YAG-mode locked laser for dentistry. We observe temperature variation during exposure, as well as the preservation of original dental tissue after ablation.
