摘要
The paper presents a Mathcad program for the design of the gun barrel using the seven step method of maximum deformation. In the first step, the configuration of the loading chamber is defined taking into account the ammunition geometry. Then, the number of lands, the ration grave/land and the twist of the barrel are computed. The outer profile of the barrel is defined in step three. Next step is for the estimation of the shifted pressure curve acting on the inner surface of the barrel. In step five, this curve is multiply by the safety coefficients of each zone of the barrel. The outer radius of the barrel is then computed based on the limit of elasticity of the material and the technological profile of the barrel is sketched. The seventh step is for the final control: the computation of the real safety coefficients. For better understanding of the method, a case study for 100 mm caliber gun barrel is presented.
