A weighted normalization method of estimating fundamental matrix and its stability analysis

摘要
Two images of a single scene are related by the epipolar geometry, which can be described by a 3 x 3 singular matrix called the fundamental matrix. It captures all geometry information contained in two images, and its determination is very important in many applications. The 8-point algorithm and the improved 8-point algorithm are some widely used methods for computing the fundamental matrix from a set of 8 or more matching points. They have the advantage of simplicity in implementation. But they are so extremely sensitive to noise that it. is hard to use them in some cases. This paper proposes a linear method to estimate the fundamental matrix and characterize the stability of the seven independent parameters of the fundamental matrix at the same time. Various experimental results on real images and simulated data illustrate the approach.
