摘要
Japanese standard for seismic evaluation of existing concrete buildings is applied to evaluate the seismic capacity of a concrete frame that was designed by the current Chinese seismic design codes but collapsed during the Wenchuan Earthquake. The purpose of this study is to investigate to what level of earthquake the concrete frames designed by the current Chinese code can withstand, and to address necessary issues concerning with the applicability of the Japanese standard to the assessment of seismic capacity of the existing concrete buildings in China.
