Influences of Solid to Liquid Ratio on Bio-Hydrogen Production from Smashed Banana by Photosynthetic Bacteria HAU-M1

摘要
Huge amounts of rotten banana are generated in China, and banana is rich in carbohydrate which could be used as a carbon source for fermentation. In this study, banana waste was used for bio-hydrogen production with high-efficient photosynthetic bacteria (PSB) HAU-M1. Oxidation reduction potential was -460 to -520 mV for photosynthetic bacteria HAU-M1 hydrogen production. The modified Gompertz Model was employed to fit the cumulative hydrogen production data. The results showed that the maximum specific hydrogen yield of 296.51 +/- 2.15 mL H-2/g TS was obtained at a solid to liquid ratio of 0.2, which is very close to the predicted value of 304.06 mL H-2/g TS, whereas the maximum hydrogen concentration and hydrogen production rate were 68.25% (v/v) and 40 mL.h(-1).
