NEW LEGISLATION FOR MEDICINE AND ECOLOGY IN SERBIA - PLAN OF ACTION FOR THE 2010-2019 PERIOD

The Declaration For the future of our children', signed at the fourth Ministerial Conference on environment and health in Budapest in 2004 by the ministers of health and ministers of environment, requires the creation of national plans for environment and children health as a national level obligation. According to this obligation, the 'Plan of Action for environment and children health in the Republic of Serbia for the period 2009-2019' was created and officially adopted in the Republic of Serbia, with help from the World Health Organisation and UNICEF. It aims to concretise the strategies for sustainable development, public health and the National program of integration, which are directly related to the influence of environment on the health of children. The main priorities of the Plan of Action are water and sanitation, crashes, injuries and physical activity, air quality, and chemical, physical and biological agents and health at work-activities related to the emerging needs of adaptation to the impact of climate change on health. These priorities encompass long-term and medium-term priorities and clearly defined operational activities. An ENHIS-envisioned computer program was created to monitor the most important indicators of environment and health.
