摘要：

Partial discharge (PD)-related phenomena have become a relevant to a much broader cross section of apparatus operators with the advent of widespread field PD testing of distribution cables. PD is a localized electrical discharge that only partially bridges the insulation between conductors and which may or may not occur adjacent to a conductor. The fundamentals of PD, especially as related to field PD testing of cable systems are discussed.
