Region-based image fusion with tree-structure wavelet decomposition and multi-resolution analysis

摘要
Based on the tree structure wavelet decomposition, a novel region-based image fusion is developed. The method's essence is tree-structure multi- resolution segmentation. By defining the algorithm about image energy, the original images are decomposed into sub-images. Then all the low-low frequency sub-images of every layer are segmented into different regions. Finally, by using the region information of low-low frequency parts, the fusion of other common layer sub-images is instructed. Simulation experiment shows that the performance of this tree-structure multi-resolution segmentation based on the image fusion method is better than those of the ordinary wavelet-based fusion method and the region-based fusion method only for the segmentation of low-low frequency part of the highest layer.
