The sugar-beet production can. be analysed from the agronomic, alimental and economic aspect. Because this system needs to adapt itself to different changes of the surroundings. in numerous standards such as quantity and quality, this production has been analysed from the economic aspect. In this work, the world production of both the sugar-beet and sugar has been analysed, as well as the position of the Republic of Croatia has in this production. Also, a review of the main characteristics in the sugar-beet production is given and a profitability limit within the family farms is determined. Indirect methods have been used to analyse both the demand and the consumption of sugar. A research on the sugar-beet production as one of the most significant department of agriculture has shown that the, marketing and retailing of both the sugar-beet and sugar has increased. The percentage of covering the import by exporting in 1999 is 3.84%, while the percentage of exporting sugar in the Republic of Croatia is very low and amounts to 0.30%.
