摘要
A novel room-temperature multiwavelength erbium-doped fiber is demonstrated. Stable multiwavelength lasing at room temperature is realized by incorporating a semiconductor optical amplifier into the laser cavity. The semiconductor optical amplifier is operating as a phase modulator to which a low-frequency signal with a low bias current is applied. The effects of homogenous line broadening of the erbium-doped fiber are significantly suppressed. Stable multiwavelength lasing with multiple wavelengths up to 16 and wavelength spacing as small as 0.39 nm is demonstrated at room temperature.
