摘要
To bring about the smart grid from the conventional grid, renewable based power source and storage technology should be incorporated in the existing grid. With this aim, this paper analyzes the load frequency control of a multi-area system incorporated with conventional power plants like thermal, hydro with renewable-based solar-thermal plant and wind plant. During the design stage, various non-linearity such as boiler dynamics (BD) and generation constant (GRC) are also taken for consideration. To maintain the frequency stability, a fractional order proportional-integral-derivative controller known as FOPID controller is considered. To evaluate the system response, a step load of 1% is applied in the system. The system is tested with some classical controllers like proportional-integral-derivative (PID) and proportional-integral (PI) controller. The performance of the proposed controller is compared with PI and PID controller and a noteworthy improvement is distinguished in the case of FOPID controller.
