Interface investigation of crystallized aluminosilicate short fiber reinforced Al-12Si alloy composites

摘要
The interface of amorphous aluminosilicate short fiber reinforced Al-12Si alloy composites shows that there are reaction products which tend to cause loss of fiber strength and embrittlement of the metal matrix leading to the overall degradation of composite properties. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was used to study the interface microstructure in a crystallized aluminosilicate fiber reinforced Al-12Si alloy composite. The study revealed that the strength of the composites is lower than that of the matrix alloy for temperature below 150 degrees.
