摘要
Objectives: Evaluation of the results of surgical management of orbital floor fractures in case of early surgery. Materials and Methods: Retrospective study on 88 patients with 99 orbital floor fractures. On average 4.4 years postoperatively the esthetic and functional outcome of the patients was determined. Results and Conclusions: In 5 cases, inflammatory postoperative complications were observed. Diplopia persisted in 2 of 15 cases, infraorbital numbness in 24 of 65 cases. Twice a minor ectropium occurred which did not need to be treated surgically. In only 1 case, scar revision was necessary. Sixteen patients complained of occasional pain, mostly dependent on the weather. We recommend an early surgical management of orbital floor fractures if possible within the first week in case of persistent diplopia, infraorbital numbness, major dislocation and incarceration of orbital fat or of the inferior rectus muscle, Preoperative CT examination is mandatory.
