Endovascular treatment of thoracic aortic aneurysms with stentgrafts

From 1996-2000 fourteen patients with thoracic aortic aneurysms were treated endovascular by stentgraft implantation. Three patients had a traumatic aortic tear, five patients suffered from a acute dissection type B. Six patients had a arteriosclerotic aneurysm. Type of stentgrafts were Talent(R) (Medtronic), Vanguard(R)(Boston Scientific) and Excluder(R) (Gore). Two patients died on a rupture, one patient acute during stenting, one delayed because of an endoleak. Stentgraft implantation in thoracic aortic aneurysms is an alternative and less invasive treatment for patients with high risk.
