摘要
In this paper, a leaky-wave antenna (LWA) realizing backfire with a wide beam scanning range based on the spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPPs) is proposed. Open rings are periodically etched into the transmission line (TL) of the antenna. Flaring grounds and tapered open rings are used in the transition regions to achieve the momentum and impedance matching between CPW and the SSPP TL. To transform the overpoweringly confined SSPP waveguiding mode to a radiation mode, elliptical patches are placed on both sides of the waveguide. Simulation results also demonstrate that the scanning angle of the LWA can be 96 degrees within 4 GHz band range (8-12GHz) and the corresponding scanning rate is 2.40 degrees/%. The proposed frequency scanning antenna may have potential applications in microwave wireless communication.
