摘要
The aim of this study is to examine the causal relationship between technological development and economic growth in G7 countries over the period of 1996-2018 using panel causality method. Technological development is measured by R&D expenditures and patent applications. Emirmahmutoglu ve Kose (2011) panel causality test results show that the causal relationship between technological development and economic growth differs by technology proxy. When the technological development is measured by R&D expenditures, the results provide support of a bi-directional causality. When the technological development is measured by patent applications, on the other hand, a uni-directional causality from economic growth to technological development is detected.
