摘要
Decarbonization of the value chain is increasingly coming into focus for the oil and gas industry. Shareholders, investors and the general public are demanding transparency and action from operators to reduce their methane emissions. In the last 4 years, satellite technology which makes it possible to monitor oil and gas facilities remotely and frequently for methane leaks has become available, changing the way emissions are managed. In this paper, we introduce this technology, including the next generation of satellites to launch in 2020, and the impact it can have on reducing methane emissions from oil and gas operations worldwide.
