Synthesis and antibacterial activity of new 4-substituted-5-[(2-benzoxazolylthio)methyl]-3-mercapto-4H-1,2,4-triazoles

摘要
New 4-substituted-5-[(2-benzoxazolylthio) methyl]-3-mercapto-4H-1,2,4-triazoles (VI) were prepared from potassium dithiocarbazates (V) by refluxing with various hydrazine derivatives viz., hydrazine hydrate, INH, 2,4-DNP, thiosemicarbazide, semicarbazide and benzoic acid hydrazide. The dithiocarbazates (V) were prepared by reaction of (2-benzoxazolylthio) acetic acid hydrazides (IV) with carbon disulphide in presence of alcoholic potassium hydroxide. The title compounds were characterized by the spectral data and evaluated for antibacterial activity against test organisms by cup plate method. The compounds with 2,4-dinitrophenylanilino and thiourea groups were more active against the test organisms.
