摘要
This paper aims to treat PAH-contaminated soil with vegetable oil, a more environmentally-friendly alternative to other organic solvents. The difference in PAH removal rate using palm kernel oil (PKO) and soybean oil (SO) is compared. An empirical model is employed to describe the kinetics of PAH dissolution and predict equilibrium concentrations of extracted PAHs in oil. A comparison of different temperatures (30, 50 and 70 degrees C) indicated that increasing temperature enhances the extraction efficiency of PAHs with optimum extraction efficiencies of >88% occurring at 50 degrees C and 70 degrees C for PKO and SO respectively. Thus, the potential of vegetable oil as a promising extraction agent for PAHs in soil is highlighted.
