Internal stress in organic coatings has been traditionally measured by means of Be bending beam technique. In this study, a new method for the measurement of internal stress is proposed. This method, called the FSB (free film stretch back) method, is based on the direct measurement of stress in a detached film. Using this method, internal stress and internal strain were identified directly and simultaneously.
