RELIGIOUS CISTERCIANS IN THE DIOCESE LEONESAS IN THE MODERN AGE

During the middle Ages, in the Spanish province of Leon, six feminine monasteries that were ruled by the Cistercian Order were founded, at the beginning of the sixteenth century, only five remained and it was not long before only four were left in operation. In this paper, we will study the vicissitudes that some of them went through until they reached their final location, as well as the sociological characteristics of their dwellings. In this sense, we will pay special attention to their admission, their demise, geographic origin, as well as the occupational level of these centers.
