The effect of bitter leaf extract on the inhibition of mild steel in HCl and H2SO4

摘要
THE CORROSION inhibition effect of bitter leaf (Vernonia Amygdalina) solution extract on the corrosion of mild steel test specimen immersed in 0.5 M hydrochloric and sulphuric acids at ambient temperature of 28degreesC and elevated temperature of 80degreesC was investigated. The work was performed using the weight-loss method, the calculated corrosion rate, and the potential measurement technique. The results show that the solution extract of the leaves could serve as effective inhibitor only in 0.5 M HCl at 28degreesC, at which it also has a high inhibitor efficiency.
