Pressure effects on the intergrain coupling in (Tl0.5Pb0.5)(Ba0.2Sr0.8)2Ca2Cu3Oy ceramic superconductor

The effects of pressure and magnetic field on the onset of dissipation in a (Tl0.5Pb0.5)(Ba0.2Sr0.8)(2)Ca2CU3Oy compound with optimum oxygen content were studied. The temperature of the onset of dissipation (To,,) shifts to higher values with the applied pressure. The scaling of T., with T,(P) produces the overlapping of the H(6) curves suggesting that the increase of T, and the intergrain coupling have a common origin. The improvement of the superconducting gap was recognized as mainly responsible for the increase of the intergrain coupling (also T-c) with the pressure. The experimental findings are compared with other ones obtained on a Hg0.82Re0.18Ba2Ca2Cu3O8+delta compound. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
