Optical interband transitions of polaron exciton in quantum dots

摘要
The polaron effects in quantum dots are investigated theoretically. It is shown that the exciton polaron energy is large in materials with degenerate valence band. This energy increases with decreasing dot radius. In the strong confinement regime the electron-hole pair can create significant polarization of the medium in ionic crystals. This polarization should manifest themselve in multiphonon interband transitions and large Stokes shifts of the optical lines.
