Corrosion inhibition effect and adsorption behaviour of nicotinic acid derivative on mild steel in HCl media

摘要
The weight loss procedure at the Temperature range 303-333 K was examined for the corrosion inhibition of mild steel in the presence of nicotinical acid derivative in 1 M HCl environment.. Nicotinical acid derivative has potential corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 1.0 M hydrochloric acid solution with the highest protection efficacy of 91.7% at 303 K. The weight loss findings implied that nicotinical acid derivative protects the metal surface corrosion through the creation of a protective layer at the surface mild steel-corrosive solution interface. The inhibitive efficacy increases with the increase of inhibitor concentration and decreases with increased temperature. The adsorption of the test inhibitor molecules on the mild steel surface caused inhibition. Free energy was computed and explained for the adsorption process. The adsorption mechanism obeyed Langmuir isotherms model. Copyright (c) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
