摘要
The microstructure and mechanical properties of two Al-Li-Mg-Si alloys and the base Al-Mg-Si alloy were investigated, It was found that the coherent delta' particles became the predominant precipitates with a little equilibrium Mg2Si phase and AlLiSi phase formed in the Li containing alloys. No other metastable phase precipitated. Large volume fraction of delta' lead to higher strength for Li containing alloys than the base Al-Mg-Si alloy, and solution hardening of excess Mg in matrix also increased the strength. The Li containing alloys showed a lower elongation compared with Al-Mg-Si alloy because of the planar slip caused by delta'. The tensile specimens of Al-Li-Mg-Si alloys exhibited macroscopic shear failure and their fracture surface showed mainly transgranular fracture mode while the Al-Mg-Si alloy showed fully ductile dimple fracture.
