Woman as a moral agent (understanding a woman according to S. S. Osusky in context of ethics of social consequences)

Female position in the society is one of the most essential moral issues which accompanies the mankind throughout its entire history. Social status and role of the woman influences cultures, ideologies and religion of nations to a great extent. The position of the woman in the society changes in a positive or negative way. The topic of the article deals with the social status of women within the first half of the twentieth century in Czech and Slovak republic - as it was understood by S. S. Osusky. During the detailed study of personal fund of S. S. Osus14 I got interested in his thoughts, views, opinion on women and their role in the society. Since the second half of the 19th century female attempts for equality to men began to occur more often. They struggled for the right of education, economical and legal independence, the right to vote and engage in politics. They were trying to get respect from primarily male society and fought for consideration by the community. They struggled to let the public know that they could understand and follow the social norms and values, as well as to show that they were fully capable to get involved in activities which support healthy development of the society. They also aimed to prove that they were able to make their own decisions and be responsible for them. Those were the main goals of the evolving emancipation of the period. The aim of the article is to evaluate to what extent were Osusky's views considered humanistic and respectful to human dignity as well as values which present an essential part of ethics of social consequences.
