In this paper the new developments of two systems of fibre reinforced cement-based composites, i.e. fibre reinforced cements and fibre reinforced concretes in China are reviewed. Though asbestos-containing products have not been banned yet, the non-asbestos fibre reinforced cement products, mainly glass fibre reinforced cement (GRC), autoclaved cellulose fibre reinforced cement (CCA) and vinylon fibre reinforced cement (VRC), are still being developed successfully. For fibre reinforced concrete, besides use of steel fibre, more attention has become to be paid to the use of synthetic fibre, especially polypropylene (PP) fibre, in recent years.
