Effect of iron content on the distribution of zinc between copper and matte

摘要
The distribution coefficients of zinc between copper and matte phase containing iron have been measured at 1400 degrees K and 1500 degrees K. In a dilute solution, activity ZnS shows negative deviation from Raoult's Law. At 1500 degrees K activity of ZnS can be approximated by Tempkin's model. Distribution coefficient of zinc, L-Zn, increased with increasing iron and decreasing zinc contents at both temperatures. Activity coefficient of ZnS for an iron bearing matte may be expressed by log gamma(ZnS(1)) = -297/T - 0.153 + 0.65 N-FeS for 1400 degrees K < T < 1500 degrees K, 0 < N-ZnS < 0.04 and 0 < N-FeS < 0.25.
